Musical Discovery: ‘King and Lionheart’ by Of Monsters and Men

Following on from their debut album, My Head is an Animal, Of Monsters and Men have returned with their new album, Beneath the Skin. But for today’s Musical Discovery, I review a track from their first album, called King and Lionheart.

The song begins with a laid-back guitar riff along with emotional vocals from Nanna. A powerful drum beat is introduced before the peaceful chorus, which is a nice chorus.

Upon listening to the track for the first time, I remember the track coming across as cinematic. As well as this, the song, combined with the music video, has style similar to Woodkid’s Run Boy Run.

With colourful vocals combined with a strong rhythm, King and Lionheart is a powerful and emotive track from Of Monsters and Men.
