Like Gangnam Style, as soon as Harlem Shake was created, it wasn’t long before the spoofs came flooding in…
The viral sensation has already made it’s way to famous companies such as Google,Facebook and Radio One. But what is this Harlem Shake, and like most viral dance songs, what is the dance associated with it?
In most videos, it starts off with one person dancing. Then, when the climax increases, and the words “Do The Harlem Shake” are said, more people appear, and dance as randomly as possible. Basically, it’s pure randomness, and there is no actual dance move to it.
Although it is yet to be released as a single – and the chances are that it isn’t since the video only lasts for around 30 seconds. But already the “original” video has reached millions of views. Will it be as viral as Gangnam Style? Probably not, as Gangnam Style reached the billion view mark – it is unlikely that it will happen again.
What are your thoughts? I shall leave the video here, make of it what you wish…
In Other News…
I’ve created a mini section of the article that I’ll use if necessary. But this week, it’s the news that Earth will have a near miss with an asteroid tonight (around 19:30 GMT), which will be a great sight to see.

And just think of all the fashion influences to come! And that near miss thing… not so much.
Haha! Yep, still waiting to see it here… *sighs*
I really hope this does not make it viral, at least Gangnam style had, well more.
Why do you think that? May I ask?
for me it was just plain silly. It looked like a bunch of guys that were trying too hard to have their 15 minutes of fame.
True… But randomness seems to go well on YouTube.
I’m still going to go with nope. Time will tell.
Indeed it will, but already it has become viral… Thanks for sharing your views!
I must be getting old. haha
Part of the ‘new world’ phenomenon – like a ‘reversed’ eloi world! ‘Silly’ gone viral! Not that it will matter a lot but I’ll be in Jackie P’s corner on this one… And, yeah, I’m old.
Haha! I don’t know why, but at the moment, silly stuff does well!
Oh my gosh, bring back the Watusi! (ah, that’s a dance from the ’60s for those who don’t know) I agree it looks like they are trying to hard to do ‘something’ for recognition. It’s not very creative. By the way in 5th grade I made up the “Micky Mouse Mambo” and the school principal made me dance it in front of the entire student body – fortunately we didn’t have video in the dark ages.
Haha! So it seems to be a regular thing then… Random dances are a thing of the future!
